Missed Presentations

Welcome Back folks!  The presentations that were due before Thanksgiving break, Monday and Tuesday, November 20, and 21, were lackluster or non-existent. If a group was not presenting, then your group was to take the sub-section of that group and make ten questions from the information, along with answers. The most a true and false set could be per section was 20%.
I have loaded the pre-read sections in the Assignments, and please finish those questions for tomorrow's activity. This will take the place of your presentations.

When the Grizzlies Walked Upright

The assignment for "Grizzlies" is to find (deductive reasoning) 15-20 statements about the Modoc people that are derived from the myth. The format should look like this:  TRUTH: (PG #): "QUOTE FROM STORY" SOCRATIC EXPLANATION... example: The Modoc people were polythestic. (19) "The Chief of the Sky Spirits"...Because the Chief in the Sky is described as chief of sky SPIRITS, it is plural, therefore suggests more than one sky spirit. Also, the daughter referenced the Wind spirit also.

Here is the HALL OF FAME PowerPoint for you to peruse. Remember, from fifteen points, I deduct one point for grammatical and layout infractions. Keep the rule of "5" to a slide, no more than five bullets per slide. There is no limit to your creativity and size of the show, just make sure that it ENHANCES your speech, not IS your speech! Good Luck!

Wednesday, May 23

Today, you are looking at examples of backboards for speeches. You and a partner should find sogood ideas for your presentations. Remember with the paper, double-spaced, correct font, and headers on every page. To set up headers, go into Word's page set up menu select the box that says 'different first page'. Go to 'insert' menu for headers and right-justify your first and last name for a header. For example, my first page header would read Heather Carver. For every other page, your header will be your last name only and the page number, which should be inserted by finding the page number button that looks like #. Enter in current position behind your name, and in plain style. Use some advanced citation technique with name drops in the sentences!

Junior Project Start Up

Folks,
Today you will have received the initial approval form for Junior Project. Remember, the criteria states that your subject must have a positive impact on America! You will be asked to provide: name, occupation, birthplace, and references for your subject. First to complete their form locks in their choice for the year. No subject can be duplicated in a class period. I.E. We cannot have two Marilyn Monroes in first period, but we can have one in first and one in sixth.
